Description
I made this background messing around in gimp 2.8, and since it looks decent I decided to upload it. I personally use this as one of the backgrounds for my laptop. I chose purple hexagons because purple is my favorite color, and I think hexagons are the coolest looking polygon. (This image is a .jpg file because it's displayed better as a desktop background) Also, zoom in to see better quality. I also love this image because it reminds me of the Matrix.
Made in Gimp 2.8 using only filters
PROCESS:
Fill background with solid grey color (IMPORTANT: THERE MUST BE AN ALPHA CHANNEL)
Select the Mosaic filter from the filters tab under Distorts
From inside that menu:
Select a polygon from the dropdown box
Turn tile size up to an appropriate size
Set tile height to 10
Set tile neatness to 1
Set color variation to 1
Turn on FG/BG lighting, then turn it off. (This fills in the lines in between the polygons)
Leave other settings default
Click OK
Select the Particle Trace filter from the filters tab under Alpha to Logo
From inside that menu:
Choose a Base Color (I HIGHLY recommend only changing the hue, as changing the value or saturation seems to ruin the whole process)
Click OK
Save image
